On December 26th, 2015 my life changed forever. Born to my wife and I was healthy baby boy that we named Noah. Since that time, the focus of my being on this planet changed forever. It is interesting to think about the past month and try and remember what my life was like before he arrived. I've come to the conclusion that I was a very selfish person who wasted a lot of time.
Although Noah has only been around for a month he has refocused my thinking around education.
I want
- the best for our students
- students to take risks in their learning
- to feel safe at school
- to have positive adult role models in all their classes
- students to be life-long learners
I take pride in my relationships with the students in our building and I firmly believe that all students deserve a fair and equitable education. I would expect and hope that Noah receives a quality education and the teachers he has care about his learning.
I hope that by the time Noah reaches high school the research supporting best practices in education have taken over in our high school.
I hope that by the time Noah reaches DCSS in 2029/30 the work we do now to shift culture and support 21st century learning has made a difference.
I'd like to look back at that time and say look how far we've come ... where does the time go?
