I’m a few weeks early, but I feel it’s the appropriate time to express my gratitude to the people in our school and in our District who are helping us to make this year’s start up go as smoothly as possible.
The abrupt, late start to the school year has us scrambling on a number of fronts. Our maintenance people are inundated with facilities work orders trying to get buildings in shape for students and staff. Our secretarial staff are looking at constant lineups in the office as new registrations arrive, requests for student files must be dealt with, and students and staff barrage them with questions and needs. Counselors on both campuses are faced with lineups of anxious students wanting course changes or timetable adjustments, and our teachers are under pressure, as many of the September processes are already well under way, even during this first week of school.
What this mad rush of activity has me feeling is an overwhelming sense of gratitude to our entire staff, who work incredibly hard to provide the best education possible for our students. What I have learned over this past few months, and what I have come to appreciate is that the level of effort being put forward by people in School District 59 can’t be denied.
I am fortunate to work with such an incredible team of people within the District, and within our school. Thank you all. In the words of William Arthur Ward:
“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”
